After last night's performance many are saying - "well that crash didn't slow him down!"
After a mediocre rst heat, where Mills began on the front row but struggled with car set up and a massive oil leak and eventually came home in fourth, the night was not off to a great start. It was clearly evident that the car was not happy and Squizzy wrestled it for all of the ten laps. Smoke began billowing in the dying laps and then the panic set it. Back in the pits a frantic search began to nd the source with the only explanation being that oil was coming from the breather.
Heat two was a much nicer experience and Mills fought hard for the lead with Braeden Palmer for quite a few laps but eventually came home the victor.
Still with an unknown reason as to why the engine was spewing oil, Mills started the Amain event from grid 3. And in a moment that looked scripted, Troy Jordan pushed Paul Farrell high heading into turn one which left the gate open for Mills......and he pounced! Mills took the lead in turn one and was o ! There was only one caution over the fteen laps but Mills lead from start to nish. "The car was still not pleasant to drive and I thought once I got to the front I had to just hug the pole line as it was the only place I could put the car comfortably. I thought if they wanted to go around me then they're going to have to go high!" Mills explained.
Considering the unsettled nature of the car and the oil issue the team is no doubt still extremely happy to take out the opening round of the season. With the valued support of our many partners, Mills Motorsport next heads to Western Speedway, Hamilton for round 2 of the Aussie Jay's Southern Speedcar Tour.
