Mills Motorsport Group is all set for what is looking like their biggest season yet.
The most significant commitment from the team is by far their inclusion as a contracted team for this seasons Speedcar Super Series.
The SSS has long been regarded as the pinnacle of Speedcar racing across the country and Mills Motorsport Group finally have themselves in a position where it is both financially and logistically viable.
As discussed with Dennis Newlyn recently Squizzy stated that the national series had always been something the team wished to undertake but it simply wasn't the right time. “I set high goals for myself so expectations are to do quite well, but I am under no illusion because the opposition we are up against will be very tough, but if we can finish the series in the top three, we will be very happy.”
Amongst the five SSS rounds the team has scheduled 19 mostly blue ribbon events and selected championship rounds in their home state of Victoria.
Spending a lot of time of the road is nothing new for the Echuca based team; 'Given our regional location we are probably one of the most travelled teams in the country, but it's something we've always done so it's not a big deal really' Squizzy states. 'We actually enjoy the travel, Speedcar racing is in our blood and our boys are experiencing exactly what we did as kids. Family time and long lasting friendships within the sport are really important to us'.
The team is co-owned by Dutton Garage and general manager Clinton Mills is extremely proud to be involved in one of the most professional teams in Australia. 'Whilst we have a decent budget we are by no means a lucrative team; given that, we pride ourselves on the image we portray and representing each and every one of our sponsor’s brands in a way that that is both professional and respectful'.
Mills Motorsport Group hits the road this coming Saturday for the opening round on the VSDA Calendar. With 25 cars nominated it will be no easy feat to come out on top but team is confident they have a competitive package that can do the job.
